ProActive BenefitsSecurity of DataPhysical security of hardware and software infrastructure are provided through:
Logical security, at incremental levels, is provided to schools as required. The first level of logical security is through User Authentication and SSL Security. SSL, short for Secure Lockets Layer, a protocol developed by Netscape for transmitting private documents via the Internet. SSL uses a cryptographic system that uses two keys to encrypt data - a public key known to everyone and a private or secret key known only to the recipient of the message. Many Web sites use this protocol to obtain confidential user information, such as credit card numbers. User Authentication is accomplished through a secure User ID and password along with roles based data access within the ProActive services architecture. Beyond the first level of logical security are:
It is up to the client to determine the level of security required. Most opt for level 1, provided that, each Student and Staff transaction is stored and reportable allowing the school to audit any data changes that take place. |
